3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup buttermilk

3 1/2 tablespoons flour
1 1/3 tablespoons vanilla extract

Mix all ingredients and put into prepared pan.

1/2 tablespoon melted butter
2 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar

Drizzle melted butter over dough and sprinkle with sugar. Bake until crust is golden-brown and filling is bubbly, about 50 minutes.

Makes 8 to 10 servings.
